Since 1993, he has been the Director of Oenology at Aliança Vinhos de Portugal, overseeing wines from the Vinho Verde, Douro, Beira Interior, Dão, and Bairrada regions, as well as sparkling wines and brandies. Throughout his extensive career, he has conducted various research projects and was awarded Best Winemaker in 2006 by Essência do Vinho and Winemaker of the Year in 2023 by Grandes Escolhas magazine. Francisco Antunes holds a degree in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Évora and a diploma in Oenology from the Bordeaux Institute of Oenology. His career, distinguished by a strong technical and scientific foundation and an outstanding ability to adapt to different terroirs and winemaking conditions, sets him apart as a complete winemaker—not only for his expertise in crafting exceptional wines but also for his passion for sharing knowledge.
