Alentejo 1

Alentejo

One of the largest wine regions in Portugal, where the view is lost in extensive plains.

We arrived in Alentejo. The sunny plains rest rocked by the "Cante Alentejano".

Introduction

Features

It is a very sunny area allowing the perfect maturation of the grapes and where temperatures are very high in summer.

The vines are planted on the steep slopes of the mountains or on large plains and in very heterogeneous clay, granite, limestone or schist soils.

The most important varieties in the region, in case of white grapes, are Roupeiro, Arinto and Antão Vaz. For red grapes, Trincadeira, Aragonez and Alicante Bouschet, a variety originally from France that adapts perfectly to the Alentejo region.
